Stone of the Month

September's birthstone is sapphire. Sapphire symbolizes truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. It has been said that the ten commandment tablets that Moses was given were made of sapphire. This led to blue sapphire representing divine favor, and why the British crown jewels are full of large blue sapphires, the symbol of pure and wise leaders. Sapphire is a variety of the mineral corundum and occurs in every color of the rainbow except red. Red corundum is called ruby. Blue sapphires have long been prized for their velvety, intense hues ranging from deep midnight blue to brilliant cornflower blue.

Sapphire is also used to celebrate the 5th and 45th anniversaries.
